It’s Amazing What Happens When We Leave Things Alone…

I was reading the depressing news about the North Korean threats against the world…I don’t want this blog to get too political about the wars/threats going on throughout the world…but I was reading and then I clicked on another story connected to the article.  It was about the DMZ, the demilitarized zone between North Korea & South Korea.  It has been left alone for the last 55 years!  With very few exceptions, a human presence has not been allowed within its 1200+ square kilometers during that time.  And wouldn’t you know, something amazing has happened over the last 55 years.  30,000 different species of plants and animals now call it home including 55 different types of mammals, many of whom have gone extinct throughout the rest of Korea and are on endangered species lists worldwide.  There is also evidence that suggests a subspecies of the snow leopard and the Siberian tiger live there.  With the absence of man, nature has thrived!  This gives me hope that if we change our ways in the world, we might be able to do greater things than we originally believed.  Nature is pretty resilient when left alone to do its thing.  Granted, it took a lifetime to make this happen, but it worked, even if this was not the intention at all of the DMZ.  It got me thinking about our National Parks and why we need to not only keep funding them, but to expand the protected wilderness that they enclose so their diversity can grow.  Hopefully the North Korean threats stay just that, threats…not only for us, but for them.

PS – I am sorry that I didn’t keep the link for you…I will do better next time about it.

Some Progress…

I worked hard once more on the website again.  I only had one class in college that dealt with web pages, HTML, etc., which has made it hard to get started as having a website is essential in today’s marketplace.  Anyway, I keep learning more and more and things get a little easier, but I doubt I will ever be great at it.  Anyway, I uploaded some photos in the fine art gallery.  My plan is eventually for the link to go to a sub-page with several different galleries, mostly scenic, but I still shoot both color and B&W photography and would like to have them in separate galleries.  Anyway, persistence is the game I am playing these days as far as the website is concerned.  I plan on putting in 10-12 hours a day minimum working on it unless I have work elsewhere that day. (I’m in hour 13 for today!)  The front page is done, the bio page started, all galleries and other links go to their perspective pages, but very few of them have much work on them.  And then there is this blog for those that are interested.   If you want to go the web page click on the Home button above. If you want to go straight to the gallery I was just mentioning, you can find it at http://www.ariafoto.com/fineart1.html.  Eventually I hope this blog becomes a discussion of not only my photography, but others.  I will probably talk about other things that interest me from time to time, but I will try to categorize them in their own category on the blog….that is as soon as I learn how to do that.  Well,  I think I will sign off for now.  Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the AriaFoto blog…sorry about the mess!

I have been working as fast as I can on getting this site up over the last few months, and this, like many other facets of the website is just in the development stage.  I have never blogged before, but I plan to at least 3 times a week…that is as soon as I get most of the rest of the website up and running.  If you are friend, family, or potential client…or if you just stumbled upon this site as you were browsing, welcome…..but do check back in a few weeks when hopefully more things are up and running.

Thanks!
